Duo Breath

Type

Residential

Location

North Sydney, Sydney

Concept

Located in the heart of North Sydney, this residence is shaped around the dialogue between two materials that carry an inherent sense of breath:

Travertine stone and rattan cane.

-

Travertine holds the quiet gravity of the earth.

Its natural voids and sediment layers reveal a slow geological breath—weighty, grounded, and formed over time.

Rattan, by contrast, is the breath of hands and plants.

Soft, warm, and woven into rhythm, it brings a human tactility that settles gently into the space.

In this project, these two materials meet in a deliberate contrast: the hardness of stone and the softness of weave; the naturally formed and the hand-crafted.
